Beach Fashion

Love it or hate it, beach season is upon us, and more likely than not you’ll be donning a swimsuit and other water-related gear in the near future. As far as fashion goes, beachwear is fairly straightforward -- all you need is a great suit with coordinating sandals, a cool cover-up, a hat to protect your head, and some shades to keep your peepers free of UV damage.

Tommy Hilfiger slides
These basic black and white slides are both cushy and easy to match with the other summer items in your wardrobe. The mesh fabric composition means these are easy to clean and you can take them into the water with no fear of ruining them.

Paul Smith flip-flops
Known for his ability to infuse cutting-edge cool into everything, Paul Smith doesn’t disappoint even with the most straightforward footwear. Simple flip-flops get a serious luxe upgrade in the hands of this British designer with leather uppers and insoles. As well, the multicolored woven canvas stripe along with the graffiti-style logo screen on the sole add a healthy dose of quirky cool to the sandal.

Banana Republic Montecito sandal
If you don’t want to pack much luggage for your beach holiday, or if you plan to spend all day at the beach before engaging in your evening’s activities, these are the sandals for you. The crisscross design on these leather sandals makes them casual enough when paired with swim shorts or baggy pants for lounging about, but it also means they’re chic enough for a night out in a relaxed but hip restaurant or bar.

Quiksilver O.G. Scallop boardshorts
Whether you surf or not, the sporty retro style of these boardshorts will surely get you in the mood for some kind of beach activity. And even if they don’t inspire you to do much except roll over on your towel to top off your tan, their sleek appearance means you’ll look great just lying around. A great bonus: A patch pocket on the back prevents you from losing your small change on your jog over to the hot dog stand.

Abercrombie & Fitch Sunday Creek shorts
Make a style splash in these just-colorful-enough sporty shorts from Abercrombie & Fitch. They’re long enough to cover any less than perfect spots if you didn't manage to make it to the gym this past winter. The low-rise fit flatters most body types as well and will improve the appearance of your rear end. These shorts will also dry quickly in the sun thanks to their 100% soft polyester composition, so you’ll never have to put on a wet swimsuit when the urge to take a second dip in the pool or the ocean strikes you.

Joseph Abboud T-shirt
Worn at the beach, this linen-cotton blend shirt from designer Joseph Abboud will skim over your body to hide any lumps or bumps, ensuring that all others see is your fantastic sense of style. Elsewhere, team it with gray pants or shorts for a casual yet sophisticated look that’s very now.

Gap linen shirt
This light linen shirt ensures you feel breezy on the hottest days. And when paired with crisp white pants this affordable button-down from Gap will keep you feeling and looking cool on the beach and beyond. Because it's made of high-quality linen it’ll look elegant for an evening out as well.

Kangol KL428D sunglasses
Be smart about sun protection and look hot with these Kangol sunglasses. More interesting than basic black glasses but just as versatile, these dark brown shades with break-resistant lenses will complement everything else in your closet.

Tom Ford TF003 Ford
These pilot-style sunglasses from Tom Ford are the kind of piece that will make any outfit look instantly better and up-to-date. Work the sporty vibe of these glasses on the beach by pairing them with sleek but athletic swimming trunks and a lightweight cotton hoodie. In the city, play up the ‘60s feel of the shades by trying them out with some slim-cut pinstripe pants.
